Editorial Policy
The Editorial Committee of Acta Medico-Biotechnica (AMB) reserves the right to decide whether a paper is acceptable for publication, to obtain peer reviews by an international Editorial Board for submitted papers, and if necessary, to require changes to the content, length or language.
A cover letter with the name, address, telephone and e-mail address of the corresponding authors must accompany each manuscript. This letter must include a statement that affirms that the publication has been approved by all co-authors, the work has not been published previously and that is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements.
Review Process
Each manuscript is initially reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, followed by double-blind peer review by at least two experts from a specific field (editorial members can be chosen to conduct the peer review), chosen by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding publication based on the suggestions received by the reviewers.
The aim of the peer review process is to establish the technical soundness of a submission and its suitability for publication by AMB.
Following completion of the peer review process, all accepted articles are subject to professional English editing.
Received contributions are first reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal who determines whether the contents of these contributions correspond to the concept of the journal:
- If the contribution corresponds to the concept and criteria of the journal, editorial staff sends it to two anonymous reviewers. Articles that comply with the concept of the journal according to their content but do not correspond to other criteria may be returned to the author by the editorial staff for correction.
- Regarding acceptance or rejection of the article, the author is informed within three months of article submission.
- After the reviews are completed, the author receives the reviewers’ opinions with recommendations for improvements/corrections and in the case of rejection, the reasons for rejection.
- The final decision on publication of the article is made by the Editor-in-Chief on the basis of the reviewers’ recommendations, and the justifications for his/her decision need not be given.
- The text of the article should be prepared in accordance with the Instructions and guidelines for authors.
- Authors upon submission of the article are required to confirm that the contribution is submitted in accordance with the Ethics of scientific communication.
- All accepted articles are additionally proofread by English and Slovenian language proofreaders.
